This year the United Nations Association in Canada, Prince George celebrated it’s second year in Prince George! This was capped with our annual fundraising dinner, which took place at the Twisted Cork Restaurant on November 6. Special guest speaker George Somerwill was present to give a few words to those who came out to support us, and entertainment was also present. We were also fortunate to have a silent auction at this event and had a great response from those that came out.
“Thank you to all that have supported us in our second year in Prince George. We would not be as successful as we have been without the community that we have here. It has been an amazing year and we look forward to many years to come.” Kyle Cameron, president of UNAC-Prince George.
We were very fortunate to have former UN Peacekeeper and Provincial Representative for UNAC George Somerwill present during our UN Day celebrations. Several schools including the University of Northern British Columbia (for their Global Friday event) took part by having George Somerwill speak to students about the UN and what they do around the world.
UNAC-Prince George was fortunate to have been able to celebrate United Nations Day on October 24th, 2015. A flag raising ceremony was held at Prince George City Hall, with UNAC members and community partners present to mark the momentous occasion. It was a celebration of both UN Day and the 70th anniversary of the United Nations.
